Yes, there is a blog entry down there for maybe 2 years ago that says i'll update the site soon... maybe in two more years.. j/k. I'm not down with flashy flash at the root, just need to find time to update it / figure out what i want there.
cheers
loooong time...
so it's been a year and a half since i had an entry in this thing. This brings me to a conclusion that i'm not the blogging type... or am i ? Maybe i need to change the "scope" of blogging or redefine it for myself and maybe then it'll work?
lets try it

Google squashes Santy worm
First of all, for those who don't know - there was a new vulnerability discovered in PHP. Looks like today some smartass decided to write a warm(Santy) that uses Google to search for phpBB boards and attack the webservers those run on (deleting all web files/defacing the site). That's around 40,000 servers around the world...
Would like to thank Google for doing the right thing and squashing requests from Santy worm so it's not able to spread any futher. I was about to shutdown some of my php server applications (phpbb), since Debian hasn't released a patch for PHP yet, when found out about Google's action. Thanks for saving millions of man-hours around the world Google. The upgrades will still have to be done, at least not in an emergency manner.

Took a week to find a long lost firewire card. Looked inside every little hole I could've stuck a pci card into... the only hole I didn't check carefully enough was the PCI one inside my computer... I knew I had one somewhere! ;)

Google Google and again Google.
These guys should be in the
Guiness Book of Records for putting the simplest web page to the most sophisticated back-end.
was just reading an
interview with Marissa Mayer, product manager at Google and came across following:
There's this one user, a Google zealot - we don't know who he is - who occasionally sends an e-mail to our "comments" address. Every time he writes, the e-mail contains only a two-digit number. It took us awhile to figure out what he was doing. Turns out he's counting the number of words on the home page. When the number goes up, like up to 52, it gets him irritated, and he e-mails us the new word count. As crazy as it sounds, his e-mails are helpful, because it has put an interesting discipline on the UI team, so as not to introduce too many links. It's like a scale that tells you that you've gained two pounds.
amazing.
